Pipe silencer
In the case of silencers fitted into piping systems, as a rule one speaks of pipe silencers. They function mainly according to the absorption principle, if necessary, with an upstream throttling stage or a diaphragm system.In this way turbulent flows can be smoothed or flow velocities greater than 50 m/s can be reduced to the level permitted. Contrast Akustik pipe silencers offer a very wide-band attenuation and in fact without any additional internals in the low and medium frequency range and with additional sound-absorbing internals also in the high-frequency spectrum.
Contrast Akustik pipe silencers are applied in all piping systems independently of the medium used. Across the entire spectrum of the noise generator attenuation of more than 40 dB is achievable. Greater attenuation is achieved by combinations of several silencers. Longitudinal conducting of structure-borne noise or flow noise can, however, limit the result upwards.
The most varied noise sources such as combustion engines, compressors, small turbines, pumps and fans are conceivable, Contrast Akustik pipe silencers being employable both in suction pipes and in blow-off pipes being able to be used, if necessary, as pressure vessels. In order to suppress the structure-borne noise, the decoupling of the silencers by suitable compensators is advisable. A vibration-insulated bearing system for the piping should also be continued in the area of the silencers. Likewise, adequate thermal expansion and additional insulation are to be taken into account in the case of excessively high emission of structure-borne noise.
